What would you do if your son was a serial killer?
Respectable, middle-aged Stella Zax feels she has no choice but to murder her child when she discovers his depravity.
She is caught quickly and from prison, she summons a young reporter, Theo Slate, so she can explain herself—choosing Theo because he reminds her of her dead son.
Theo knows this is the story of a lifetime and seizes the opportunity—regardless of Stella’s disturbing reasons for confiding in him.
When his adoring trainee Delia offers to help him with the assignment, he’s too absorbed in his work to analyse her motives.
And then disturbing things start to happen. Too late, Theo realizes that far more than a story is at stake . . .
Closer is a gripping and intense thriller which will chill you on every menacing page. Read it now!
About Kit Craig
Born into a Navy family, Kit Reed—who published novels under the name Kit Craig—moved so often as a kid that she never settled down in one place. She didn't know whether that was A Good Thing or not, but it colored everything she wrote. The peripatetic Reed called herself “transgenred” for some of the same reasons. Publishers Weekly called her “one of our brightest cultural commentators.” She wrote for her entire life and published over thirty books and was featured in countless journals and anthologies. Reed’s honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship, a five-year grant from the Abraham Woursell Foundation, three nominations for the James Tiptree, Jr., Award, two for the Shirley Jackson Awards, and the Young Adult Library Services Alex Award (for her 2005 novel Thinner Than Thou). Reed's last novel, Mormama (Tor, 2017) was published in the last months of her life, and her last short story came out in Asimov's the last week of her life.
