Stephanie always longed for the family that she never had. A traumatic childhood loss meant she was more determined than most to make it happen. Despite that, her marriage fell apart and now, a year after her divorce she finds herself at rock bottom, a single parent to three lively children, financial troubles and no friends to lean on in her time of need.

After Stephanie breaks down in tears in the local supermarket, neighbour Janey comes to the rescue, ignoring her own rocky marriage to support her new friend with a sympathetic ear and plenty of tea. It isn’t long before Janey suggests they start a book club as an excuse to read more and get out of the house and lonely neighbour, Amanda is delighted to join them. Whilst they’re not the best book clubbers in the world, they always show up and the books always help them question their own lives and strive for change, or in some cases, mischief.

New friends soon give Stephanie the courage to apply for a job at a local vet’s where handsome veterinarian, Edward immediately catches her eye. Not wanting to mix business with pleasure, Stephanie knows they can never have more than a professional relationship but he keeps blurring the lines and she can’t seem to stay away.

Can Stephanie push aside her past for a chance at happiness?

About Victoria Cooke

Victoria Cooke grew up in the city of Manchester before crossing the Pennines in pursuit of a career in education. She now lives in Huddersfield with her husband and two young daughters and when she's not at home writing by the fire with a cup of coffee in hand, she loves working out in the gym and travelling. Victoria was first published at the tender age of eight by her classroom teacher who saw potential in a six-page story about an invisible man. Since then she's always had a passion for reading and writing, undertaking several writers' courses before completing her first novel, 'The Secret to Falling in Love,' in 2016.

Her third novel, Who Needs Men Anyway? became a digital bestseller in 2018 and her debut, The Secret to Falling in Love was optioned in 2020.
